Postage Charges Imminent

I have some great news: manufacturing is nearly complete, and we're close to starting postage and fulfillment.

For our Kickstarter backers, I've submitted the final postage list to Backerkit. You should soon receive a notification that allows you to review this list and make any necessary changes to your payment cards before charges are applied. I plan to set the end date for these updates as November 30th.

If you encounter any issues, please reach out to me via Kickstarter messages. It’s much easier for me to manage inquiries this way. Kindly avoid using other methods of communication, as it creates a logistical challenge for me.

Please note that we are using Economy Air Express shipping from China, which should ensure relatively quick delivery of your pledges once everything is finalised.

I also want to express my gratitude for your support. I appreciate that I didn't charge for shipping at the start of the project; otherwise, I may have had to reconsider the project's viability due to the changes in postal costs since then.

Address and Postage Payment Lock in Notice (please read)

Hi Backers, please read through the following information...

1. Today, I will lock in your address for your orders to be sent to. What will happen is that you will receive a notification of this and have 48 hours to make any changes to your address. After this time, it will be automatically locked in, so please respond. These are the steps of BackerKit fulfilment for Kickstarter, not my personal ones, so I have no input on timings etc. 

• Within the next week or two I will then request payment for shipping. This will notify you in advance also and give you the option to change any out-of-date cards or payment methods. I will notify you of when I do this in advance, but I wanted to issue the warnings now. 

But please ensure that if you don't receive notification of these things to please check the junk folder in your nominated email address or to follow it up on your end on Kickstarter / Backer kit. If you have any problems with this process, then please message me directly. 

I am super excited to be finally getting to this step, but lots of admin and work is required this end to make it run smoothly. Please respond to these requests and update ASAP as they occur.

Postage Notification & Conventions

I have finally got back home from the epic journey between MOAB in Sydney and PAX the following week in Melbourne (and everywhere in-between). I had a great time meeting backers, making new ones, networking with Australian industry professionals and playing heaps of demo games. 

Thanks to everyone I talked with and that took interest in Fjord Serpents - Vikings at War. At least this time I could show everyone the pre-production samples in person! 

I will post some photos of the events at the bottom of this update. 

POSTAGE NOTIFICATION

This is an official notice to say that sometime in the next 2 weeks I will be charging for postage; so there will be no shock or confusion. Postage is calculated by weight and generally from its starting point in China in increments of 2kgs. 

The main boxed set comes in at just under 2kg, but alas the packaging tips it over somewhat. It's a pretty hefty set, well designed and full of goodness. 

Please keep in mind that all postage will be economy air express, being sent directly from the manufacturer in China. As a little fish I couldn't use big distribution networks and the like, as I don't have the quantity to make it work. I am happy with this compromise though, as it is way cheaper than sending anything from Australia, and it will be very quick in getting to you all. 

I would ask that any commercial retailers contact me directly on postage costs if there are any issues. I will be working on streamlining and reducing cost dramatically for future orders. 

It's a scalable charge but based on 1 box set (which is the minimum order being sent) I will cover the base costs below of the most common locations. Keep in mind that extra items will make this more expensive. It's an extensive list of countries, quantities etc., so if you want a more detailed breakdown of yours, please contact me directly.

Manufacturing Update - Wheels in Motion....

Greetings backers :)

First, let me say sorry for the delay in updates. It's been a lot of waiting and a lot of pushing to get it all in motion (very stressful and honestly annoying from my perspective). Obviously, the manufacturers are so inundated with work when I reject a sample or ask for detailed postage information it sets everything back by months at a time; as they prepare new samples, send etc. As previously stated, I have been ready to go since the beginning of the year! 

But, we have great news! 

I have now accepted the last received pre-production samples and have been given a list of postal charges and rates for backers. I can move forward, and I am told manufacturing will start immediately. 

To keep everyone in the loop, if you are interested, the main 2 items that were holding everything up were as follows: 

1 - Last year after accepting the samples of the miniatures (which were perfect), the manufacturer changed the material they were to be produced in, sent samples and I immediately rejected them (as they were horrible). It then took months to negotiate a better material, but they rejected that and sent revised samples, which I rejected again. It has taken the rest of the year to bring them around to produce the miniatures in a suitable material, which I have had to wear financially, but have accepted. Unfortunately, if they had listened to me originally, we would have been onto our 3rd kickstarter by now, but it's all very much out of my hands. 

The quality of the rest of the product and it's printing has always been good, it's just the crew miniatures that have been the issue. But that is now solved. 

2 - The other delay has been getting detailed information about shipping costs, not only to backers, but to my own warehouse in bulk. This has been a long wait as they sort it out, but I now have an extensive postal cost list I can use to charge postage. 

It's been a long slog, but we seem to be getting there. This was just a quick message to keep you all up-to-date. 

I am currently touring between MOAB and PAX conventions over the next couple of weeks, on a big round trip that will cover over 5000 kms on the road. At least production will start soon and will be ticking away. 

Expect to see postal information and charges in the next few weeks. As there are so many countries and different quantities of items, these vary a lot. I will give you a heads up when it is going to happen. They will be using a economy express postal service, which will mean that once sent, the items wont take long to get to you all. 

Our production isn't big enough to qualify for the larger distribution chains, but the postage is reasonable by todays standards, and much cheaper than I could achieve sending locally.
