SAMPLES & PRODUCTION
It's been another month of waiting on pre-production samples, which I did eventually receive. Overall, the product is looking great. The Boxes and components are top notch, the book looks amazing and nearly everything is in order. I will post some pictures below.
Unfortunately, I am having the same issue with the crew models. I have rejected the crew samples 3 times in a row now, hence why it's now almost September and production hasn't started. Despite my best efforts, I am dealing with a company that just won't follow my requirements for them and refuses to budge on a simple to fix issue. It's completely infuriating but I won't stop pushing back against it until it's fixed. Unfortunately, this just burns time and effort.
After receiving the pre-production samples, I was going to do a post earlier, but then realised the faults in the crew miniatures. That kind of forced me to try and fix the issue before making a post.
As a result, they have sent me more samples of the crew models done in a different material, and I hold out hope that they are acceptable; but I will only believe that when I see it.
I can only apologise for the delay as per usual. If I had known it would be this difficult to request a fairly simple game printing I would have gone about the project in a completely different way in hindsight. All I can hope is that the experience I have gained from the difficulties I have endured will make everything a lot easier next time, plus make the product a lot better now.
CONVENTIONS
On more exciting news, we will be touring around southeast / south of Australia in early October and demoing Fjord Serpents. We had hoped to be selling product, but that won't be a reality at this stage.
This will be a massive road trip for me, which should encompass approximately 4000 kms of driving there / between and back! An epic voyage worthy of the Vikings of old. Thankfully I am taking my family and can enjoy some camping in between the shows.
It will be our first time going to Sydney, which I am super keen to experience and our second time going to PAX in Melbourne. 6 full days of gaming in just over a week is crazy.
We hope to see you at these events. Please come by, say hello and play some demos.
Pre-Production Samples on the way

Just a quick one to let you know that China has finally made the pre-production samples for the game. Sorry about the poor quality pictures and resolution (taken by manufacturer), I will take better ones when they arrive.
Box layout and setup looks great. One step closer.

First off, let me apologise for the length of time for this update to come out. I have literally just been waiting on manufacturing to send me updated pre-production samples since May! Not a lot to work with.
I finally have word that these samples are being done now, then will be sent to me. There goes another month of waiting for that I guess, but it all seems a bit out of my hands. This is the only thing holding me up to start manufacturing.
There has been plenty of cool stuff going on in the background though, and I will share some of these with you guys now.
Let's start with a batrep I managed to film this week.....
TableTopCon
We had a great time at this Gold Coast convention as per usual, meeting plenty of old and new backers and playing a ton of demo games over the weekend. A big shout-out to Phoenix for his help running the demos.
MOAB Confirmation
We are super excited to announce that we will be at MOAB this year in Sydney. The event will be held over the 5th - 8th of October this year and is Sydneys premier wargaming convention.
The miniatures for the first supplement to the game are basically finished and the book and material itself is underway. It's nice to be able to do some creative work and I really look forward to getting some images and teasers about this soon to you all.
Thank you to everyone for you continued support and patience.
Game Boxes, Conventions & Manufacturing Updates

Greetings Backers, hope you are all well.
Today I wanted to go through some of the latest updates and progress and show some test pictures of the products and recent conventions attended.
BOX / PRODUCT DESIGN
In collaboration with the manufacturers, we have spent a lot of time getting the box design for the core game and booster sets right. I am finally very happy with it from a strength and useability standpoint. The additions of moulded plastic inserts have been great. The ships slot into their own sections as do the other game components. This makes for safe transport and shipping and is above what I see from most companies. The book and components look great also :)
I have attached some pictures from the manufacturers. I apologise for the poor lighting and photography, that is out of my hands.
As you can see, the products and their packaging are finalised.
BRISCON
Great to see so many of our backers at BrisCon early this month. We had a great time as always, played many demo games, and also gained much more support and new backers. Feedback on the gameplay and product has been incredibly positive as per usual.
Here are a few pictures from the event:
MANUFACTURING UPDATES
I wanted to take a moment to briefly discuss what has been holding the project up from a manufacturing standpoint.
Aside from getting all the physical products tested, printed and approved, the main thing that has been holding it all up is the crew models, and more specifically the resin colour and quality. This has eaten up months of negotiation and new sample prints being made and delivered to me.
Literally the only thing I am not 100% happy about is the colour of the resin we have had to use, which is a milky, almost opaque white colour. Ultimately, at the end of the day it won't make much difference when you paint them, but the initial impact of them renders them hard to make out the details on the smaller models, due to the resin colour.
Other options would have deeply red-lined us from our very limited budget, but I feel this issue should be resolved very soon, as I lay down very specific guidelines to the manufacturers about what is acceptable. It doesn't affect the ships at all, as they are large objects and easy to make out.
Remember that I never achieved the stretch goal for plastic injection moulding, which was over 45k extra to do. I do hope this can be the eventual direction of our products though. But expectations must be realistic for our first project, which is honestly way more than I thought I could achieve and is looking great.
We are super excited now, after months of stress and worry, but it's all back on track. It's been a tough journey for me, but I am laser-focused on getting you legends your products within the next couple of months.
Come check us out at TableTopCon if you are in QLD Australia this weekend for more demos and fun.
Production Update, Conventions and Teasers

Greetings legends, as usual I have just been waiting on the manufacturing process and other factors; but I now have a fair bit to go through:
BOX DESIGNS
Excited to say that the box designs for the main boxed set, the 4 x ship boosters and the 2 x crew blister packs is done, and they are looking awesome. This process also included a lot of copywrite and regulatory labelling, as well as barcoding and all that boring stuff.
Below is an example of the Drakkar Longship Booster box (all boxes use a similar design, with the main boxed set obviously being a lot more involved):
CONVENTIONS
If you are in Queensland Australia, then May is a big month of conventions. We will have a booth at both of the below conventions, will be running demos, showing off the whole range and selling merch. Please come and check out Fjord Serpents and have a chat.
We have literally completed everything required to start manufacturing. Distance and time between sending samples is a major slowing factor, as samples need to be created, then to be sent to me from China to approve. I was hoping for better photos, but I haven't received any that weren't saturated by light or poorly taken (and don't wish to post those here). I will send through shots soon, but everything is looking excellent.
I would expect we will be charging for postage soon. I will keep you all up to date on that after I finalise this with manufacturer.
I won't give dates, as who knows when the game will receive full manufacturing priority. I am pushing hard though and do expect it to be under way very soon.
PODCASTS
The lads at Hobby Homies Podcast have been at it again and have thrown out a mention of Fjord Serpents - Vikings at War in their top 4 anticipated / liked Australian gaming list. Please view, like, sub and support below (I have started at the time stamp where they talk about our game, but feel free to go back and watch the whole episode):
I will try and make the next update more about eye candy, thanks as always for your continued support :)
