It's been a couple of very busy weeks getting every little function and detail correct in the ships for Fjord Serpents - Vikings at War. We wanted to share these prototypes with you so you can see how majestic these bad boys look in person.
We have shown them here with deck fillers inserted to show off the ships themselves.
Drakkar, Snekkja, Karvi & Knarr (left to right) under sail
Same ship line-up with furled sails
The mightiest ship in the waters, the Drakkar Longship
The true workhorse of the Viking navy, the Snekkja Longship
Nimble and able to travel anywhere, the Karvi Longship
Useful for supply, support and colonisation, the Knarr trading ship
Mass painting is underway so I can get you guys battle reports, ship break downs and pretty pictures to look at.
We will be going through a lot more rules updates now the miniatures are finalised.

In todays update we wanted to quickly show you the 4 ships of Fjord Serpents - Vikings at War. We will release further updates on each, but just wanted to tease the designs a little.
Below (from left to right) we can see the Drakkar Longship, the Snekkja Longship, the Karvi Longship and the Knarr Trading Ship.
A top-down look at the 4 ships to show scale and size
Each ship will have between 2 to 4 unique prow head designs (except the Knarr); and like the previously shown Karvi Longship, will have shield racks, 2 x sails, deck fillers, and in the case of the knarr unique cargo miniatures.
Profiles of the 4 main ships in Fjord Serpents
A detailed breakdown of each ship type and some rules teasers will be coming up very soon. Right now, we are printing prototypes and testing all the components to make sure they are top quality.
The Drakkar is a true sea serpent, and we are really hoping the hull fitson even our biggest printer....
The pledge manager is still open if you would like to include any of these ships with your order. Remember the box set comes with 2 x Karvi and 2 x Snekkja Longships. Additional ships of these types or the unique Drakkar and Knarr would have to be added to your order.
Karvi Longship is finalised and looks amazing!

After a lot of refining and re-design we have completed the Karvi Longship. The full kit will allow for maximum customisation of the Karvi in your fleets.
The complete components to the Karvi Longship
You can now effortlessly slot on any of the 4 ship prow heads and interchange them as wanted.
Gravity locking mechanism for our Karvi prow heads.
The deck fillers are provided so the ship can be modelled without crew; or dead crew in-game can be replaced by decking if desired.
Karvi Longship with deck fillers and sail furled
All components have been made sturdier and refined for a quality product.
Karvi Longship showing the new crew and crew bases
The crew look amazing on the new Karvi, and decking has been redesigned to accommodate them.
Karvi Longship under full sail with crew
Shield racks along the outside of the Karvi Longship are optional but included with each ship for maximum customisation.
Karvi Longship with furled sail and crew
We are very happy with the results and the utility of our Karvi Longship and can't wait to get them to you.
All above components printed on a Anycubic Photon Mono X 6k printer using both the 4k Phrozen aquaGrey and Ivory resins.
As a note - the Ivory resin makes seeing detail a little hard in photos as it is veryshiny, but itis ultra detailed.

Pledge Manager to go live over next few days...
– Wed, Mar 08, 2023 at 03:35:00 PM
We have finally got all of the answers we need from Backerkit and are good to go for the pledge manager for Fjord Serpents - Vikings at War. Thank you all so much for your patience, getting this pledge manager up and operational has been a learning experience.
If you are a seasoned user of pledge management programs, then you probably won't need the information below; but for those like us that are new to it I will go over a few things in case you get confused by it all.
What does the Pledge Manager do?
Firstly, in the coming few days, you will receive an email about your pledge to Fjord Serpents - Vikings at War. This will allow you to view and review your actual pledge level and any add-ons that you made for the kickstarter. From there the pledge manager allows you to increase your pledge level if desired (eg. from Hersir to Kings nobility). It also allows you to alter or purchase more add-on box sets to your initial order (eg. Drakkar Longship booster).
Basically, you are credited for the money you have pledged and will have to pay for anything you add to that. This will enable all backers that put place holding bids on the project or that were wishing to add more to do so. Please note that you cannot decrease your pledge amount.
As stated in the first question on the pledge manager when you enter it, postage will be collected at a later date. This is for accuracy on our end and to ensure you don't over / under pay in today's fluctuating postal system. As stated previously, postage will be done through our manufacturers established, international network at the best rates. Exact weights and dimensions are still being worked out. You will receive another survey when this is finalised.
Some important advice when using Backerkit
1. When you first enter Backerkit, you will be given a title screen which shows you the project, your pledge level and how much you actually pledged (including add-ons). If you want to increase your actual pledge level, under the 'Get Started' button you will see a link to 'switch your pledge level'. Do that now before you press 'Get Started'.
2. You will be asked a question about postage which you need to confirm.
3. If you had add-ons that you purchased through Kickstarter you will be asked to confirm them. Please note, that when you do confirm it may say you need to pay for these in a balance owing, but you will find that you will already be credited for paying for them when you go to pay. This feature caused the most headache for us here, but it is confirmed by Backerkit. We have tested it several times and it works fine.
4. If you wish to purchase more add-ons you can do so by pressing 'Edit Add-Ons'.
5. When you are finished, you can either pay for any additions you created, or can move on and finalise.
If there are any questions or problems, please let usknow below and we will do our best to fix them.
I will do another post soon going over some of the add-ons you might like to include through the pledge manager.
Please let us know when you receive your email also, so we know its working? There will be a sample period where only a few backers are tested on, then the rest will access it.
