More miniature updates and a glimpse at book layout

This week we continue to look at the new, updated miniature sculpts for Fjord Serpents - Vikings at war. Little historical and printing tweaks are ongoing, but we are super happy with the results so far. The new base system works great and is truly perfect for the game and its professional look.
I am trying to get time to paint all of the new miniatures, it's just taking me a lot longer than expected due to workloads. Once I can there will be more battle reports and rules breakdowns. I have lined up some of the play testers to compete against, so really looking forward to that.

A glimpse at the Ulfednar, looking very cool...
The box set will have two alternative Jarl Sculpts to represent your leaders on the table. These will be greatly expanded upon in the Kings & Heroes release, which will add more leaders and a host of hero character upgrades for the game.

Speaking of the rulebook, much work has been done on the general design and look of its pages and layout. Although I am still writing and organising everything, this is a big step as it helps me to visualise the medium and how I will apply my words, pictures and tables.

Enjoy, until next time...

Work has been ongoing on getting the crew stands to a state that is approaching final. As you guys know we redesigned the bases, and the stands now work on a slotta-style system; and it works fantastically (after several prototypes and changes).
The new bases are now 20mm x 14mm, slightly larger than they used to be, and also a lot thicker. This is optimal for strength and the utility we are going for. It will also translate beautifully into a mass battle game when we come to that update ;)
Here is a look at two of the designs from the Elites:
New look Berserkers in their glory...
New look Hirdman Axemen looking stoic...
Here is a look at some of the Leidang missile troops:
A look at the Javelins, including a rock-thrower...
A look at the two variant archer stands...
I am sure you will all agree that these look amazing, especially considering they are 10mm in scale. I feel I could scale these up, and they would still look great at 15 and 20mm.
More to come soon....
New Look Crew Stands & Bases

We are currently experimenting with base design. We found that simply gluing 2 single rows together was a little ugly, so we are currently doing prototypes of an old-school slotted design. This makes for a much cleaner look in the long run, and you will be able to paint your crew miniatures in rows and then glue them on these bases as you see fit.
In the above example you can see some of the changes we have made to the Leidang Spearmen. tightened up the details to make them a solid game piece that's easily printable and not prone to breaking, a game piece that is now much easier to paint, changed a few details for historical accuracy, added the slotta bases, and added more details in general.
Hope you like it, many more updates to come, as we are deep in the miniature finalisation phase ATM.
P.S - We will be releasing a solid base you will be able to download as a STL file and print. You will be able to use this for any custom crew you want to design.
Progress Report ** FJORD SERPENTS - Vikings at War

Greetings backers and happy Australia day!
Today I just wanted to give a brief overview of the progress made since the successful funding of Fjord Serpents - Vikings at War. I have been head down working, planning and writing, so sorry for the updates not flowing like they normally would.
RULEBOOK - All artwork is completed for the inside of the rulebook, which includes 13 unique illustrations. I have been madly writing and compiling the main rules and fleet creation sections of the book and have entered a pretty heavy playtesting phase. I recently just completed the Jarl creation rules, and they are not only fun, but highly immersive.
FLEET CREATION PROGRAM - I am in talks with a good friend of mine and we are designing a website-based fleet creation program. This will let you custom build your leaders and fleets and export and print as PDFs.
MINATURES - I have negotiated a completion schedule for all miniatures, which will include alterations to existing crew to make them ideal for printing, the redesign of how they are based and the inclusion of a heap of variations in heads and pose. The Leidang Spearmen, Archers and Javelins should be finalised any day, and the rest of the work will be completed mid-march; which will include the Knarr, Drakkar and Heroes & Kings sculpts.
KNARR TRADING SHIP - This is really cool. The ship will have 2 active crew slots and 4 active cargo slots. Cargo slots will include civilians, thralls (slaves), barrels and materials. Each will have its own base and be included in the Knarr booster kit.
DRAKKAR LONGSHIP - The biggest ship in the game, will include 8 crew slots and will come with a series of prow head designs. As it is a flagship, it will have more ornate woodwork and embellishments.
HEROES & KINGS - These add massive dimension to the game and the upgrades you can have upon your ship. They will be worthy of their own update, but in addition to some famous King models, there will be Stellari (captain), Merkismadr (standard bearer), Famous Berserker, Scald (warrior poet), Vulva (seeress), Helmsman & Shipwright heroes.
** All 3 of these packs will be available to add to your pledges when the pledge manager is live
POSTAGE - Looking good on this front. Our manufacturer has chains to all major international locations, and we will also have our own distribution centres for after sales in most. This means realistic postage for all. Rates still being determined.
PLEDGE MANAGER - I am doing my best with getting this going, but I am having difficulty getting answers to all my questions. It is also very expensive to run and setup, so I hope it's worthwhile. I hope to have it live within the next week with any luck.
Thanks again, more updates are coming as they unfold. When the new Leidang crew are ready I will be printing prototypes and mass painting again. This will move onto more YouTube videos with Batreps and tutorials.
I need a cloning machine to make a few copies of myself to help with everything, but on track ;)
Post Campaign launched on Indiegogo

Just a quick update to provide the link to the post campaign on Indiegogo.
Please direct anyone who missed the Kickstarter to this location.
We have created the pledge manager on Backerkit so that Kickstarter backers can increase pledges and include more add-ons if they desire. Backerkit has suggested that I send this survey to you after the Kickstarter accounts have all cleared (approx. 14 days from end). Obviously, some credit cards get rejected and backers have time to fix them after the campaign, so this delay is to sort all that out, so all money transactions are handled smoothly and this flows to the pledge manager. Stay tuned.
